Job Description

We are working with a leading insurance organization is seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to support a series of pilot learning initiatives aimed at enhancing internal knowledge around key business functions. Due to bandwidth constraints, the team is looking for a consultant who can jump in quickly and deliver high-quality instructional materials. While this engagement will begin with a couple of pilot programs, there is strong potential for long-term or expanded work based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT) courses, with an initial focus on a 60-minute session titled Breaking it Down – Financials .
  • Translate complex quarterly financial report data into accessible, role-relevant training content.
  • Create engaging content that includes knowledge checks, case-based scenarios, and supports learner understanding through real-world application.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract relevant content and ensure accuracy.
  • Work within existing design templates and follow internal learning standards and branding.
  • Build content with minimal interactivity but allow time for Q&A within the ILT session.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in instructional design, particularly with ILT, eLearning, and microlearning formats.
  • Strong ability to incorporate case scenarios, knowledge checks, and adult learning principles into content.
  • Prior experience creating learning materials in the insurance industry is required.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to take initiative, respond to feedback, and pivot quickly when project direction changes.

Tools & Technology:

  • No pre-existing content is available beyond source reports; content will be developed from scratch using SME interviews.
  • Consultant must be professional, responsive, and quality-focused; creativity is welcomed but must align with client expectations.

The pay range for this is $55.00 to $60.00 per hour W2. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
