Payroll Consultant

Onsite in Santa Clara, California

Position Summary

The Payroll Manager is the subject matter expert for U.S. and International payroll taxes, garnishments, pay practices, and wage & hour compliance. You’ll own accurate, timely payroll processing and the integrity of related systems and controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing in line with internal controls (e.g., retro pay, bonuses, status changes, timecards, new hires, terminations, special pay adjustments, garnishments, W-2s, amendments, reconciliations).
• Serve as SME on multi-state taxation, including tax adjustments/calculations, remote employee taxation, and multi-jurisdictional rules.
• Oversee equity compensation taxation and processing, run quarterly RSU releases and reconcile all stock transactions.
• Review, reconcile, and resolve issues on quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns (federal, state, local); manage responses to tax notices, penalties, garnishments, and related inquiries.
• Maintain deep knowledge of company payroll policies/procedures and applicable federal & state wage and hour laws
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures, checklists, and dashboards for accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of payroll best practices and payroll tax compliance (federal, state, local); experience with multi-state taxation required.
• Demonstrated expertise with equity compensation taxation and related reconciliations.
• Systems proficiency: ADP Workforce Now and Workday Payroll experience is required.
• Familiarity with related domains (G/L impact, stock administration, benefits), plus working knowledge of workers’ comp and 401(k).
